About Lori Olson

A Thoughtful, Integrative Approach to Relationships and Growth

I am a licensed psychotherapist who works with individuals and couples seeking greater emotional health, relational clarity, and faith-integrated growth.

Over the years, I have worked with many people who are deeply committed to their relationships and their faith, yet find themselves repeating patterns they do not fully understand. They often arrive feeling discouraged, confused by their own reactions, or unsure why what “should” work no longer does.

My work is grounded in the belief that people are not broken. They are shaped. Our ways of relating develop over time through attachment, learning, stress, and the need to survive emotionally. When these patterns are understood rather than judged, change becomes possible..

How I Understand Change

Lasting change does not come from pressure, advice, or spiritual performance. It comes from awareness, responsibility, and emotional safety.

In my work, I focus on helping people:

Understand their emotional and relational patterns

Recognize how stress and past experiences shape present reactions

Develop greater capacity to stay present during difficult moments

Respond with clarity rather than defensiveness

Rather than rushing toward solutions, I help slow the process down so growth can take root in a sustainable way.

Faith and Psychology Held Together

For many people, faith is deeply meaningful and deeply personal. It can also become a source of confusion or pressure when it is used to bypass emotional realities.

I integrate Christian faith and psychological insight in a way that honors both.

Faith is not used to silence emotions, rush forgiveness, or assign spiritual explanations to complex relational struggles. Psychology is not used to dismiss spiritual meaning or values.

Instead, both are approached through humility, responsibility, and compassion, supporting formation that is honest and grounded in truth.

My Role in the Coaching Process

In coaching, my role is not to take sides or to decide who is right. My role is to remain steady, attentive, and fair, while helping patterns become visible and workable.

I strive to create a space where:

Both partners feel heard without harmful behavior being excused

Accountability is supported without shame

Difficult conversations can happen without escalation

Growth is encouraged at a pace that respects real life

I do not promise quick fixes. I do believe meaningful change is possible when people feel safe enough to see themselves clearly.

Who I Work Best With

My approach tends to work best with individuals and couples who:

Are willing to reflect honestly on themselves

Want understanding rather than blame

Value both faith and psychological insight

Are seeking growth that is mature, grounded, and lasting

It may not be the best fit for those looking for simple answers, external validation, or someone to take sides.

Credentials and Experience

My clinical work has included a wide range of settings and roles, which has shaped a steady, practical approach to working with complex emotional and relational challenges.

I have served as the clinical director of a Christian residential treatment facility, where I worked closely with individuals experiencing acute emotional and spiritual pain. That work required careful attention to safety, depth, and discernment, particularly when faith and suffering were deeply intertwined. It also reinforced the importance of integrating psychological care with spiritual sensitivity rather than treating them as separate or competing domains.

I am a licensed psychotherapist in Florida, New Hampshire, and Washington, and my work is informed by training in attachment-based therapy, emotional regulation, trauma-informed care, and faith integration. I have spent many years working with individuals and couples navigating long-standing patterns, relational rupture, and questions of meaning, responsibility, and change.

In addition to clinical practice, I am a qualified supervisor, providing training and oversight to therapists seeking licensure in these states. Supervising other clinicians requires a strong grounding in ethical practice, clinical judgment, and the ability to think clearly in complex situations. This role continually sharpens my own work and keeps me engaged with current standards of care.

Across these roles, my focus has remained consistent: to work carefully, thoughtfully, and respectfully with people who are doing their best to navigate real-life challenges. I value depth over quick answers and clarity over complexity for its own sake.

Please Note

Although these sessions are led by a licensed psychotherapist, they are offered as coaching, not therapy. The work focuses on relational skill-building, emotional regulation, accountability, and attachment-informed growth. No mental health diagnoses are made, and coaching does not replace psychotherapy. When clinical care is needed, referrals will be recommended.

Teaching, Writing, and Ongoing Work

In addition to clinical practice, I have authored books, developed educational courses, and hosted podcasts focused on emotional health, relationships, and faith-integrated growth.

This work has grown out of the same questions I encounter in therapy: how people change, why patterns repeat, and what helps growth become sustainable rather than forced.

Writing and teaching allow these ideas to be explored more fully, while continuing to inform and refine my clinical work.

These resources are not a replacement for coaching or counseling when appropriate, but they reflect an ongoing commitment to thoughtful, integrative care.

Moving Forward

Reaching for coaching is not an admission of defeat. It is an acknowledgment that the relationship deserves deliberate effort and mature attention.

Couples sessions are 60 minutes and conducted virtually.

This is a private-pay service. Insurance is not accepted.

The investment is $225 per session.

Ready to Begin?

Change does not start with another argument. It starts with a decision.

If you are both willing to examine your patterns and practice new responses, schedule your first session and begin the process.

Coaching is private-pay, virtual, and structured for couples who want honest, sustainable growth.
